# 2FA Authentication 🔐

2FA is a security system that adds an extra layer of security to your NiceDay account 🔐  
  
Next time you log in, you need an Authenticator app such as **Google Authenticator** or the **Authy-app**  
Download one of these apps from the Apple or Google Play store  
After entering your password and email address when logging into the portal, you need to open the authenticator app on your mobile device, and enter the code from your mobile device into your NiceDay login screen  
 

## Enable two-factor authentication 

Follow these steps to enable two-factor authentication: 

1.  Click at the top right of the NiceDay portal, when logged in, on your name
2.  Click 'Account Settings'
3.  Click on 'Enable' at 'Two-factor authentication' 
4.  An explanation page appears, follow the steps as described 
5.  **Save your recovery codes** 🔒

The next time you log in, you will need a mobile device that has an authenticator app on it, such as **Google Authenticator** or **Authy**. You can download these apps from the Google Play Store or App Store. After entering your password when logging into the portal, grab your mobile device and open the authenticator app. Enter the code you see in the authenticator app into the NiceDay portal.

Change mobile device 

Want to use a different mobile device to log into the portal with the authenticator app? Then you will need to change the device in the NiceDay portal: 

1.  Click at the top right of the NiceDay portal, when logged in, on your name
2.  Click 'Account Settings'
3.  Click 'Change device' under ‘Two-factor authentication’
4.  Follow the steps

Disabling two-factor authentication

Follow these steps:

1.  Click at the top right of the NiceDay portal, when logged in, on your name
2.  Click 'Account Settings'
3.  Click ‘Disable’ under ‘Two-factor authentication’
4.  Grab your mobile device and open the Authenticator app  
    In the portal, enter the numeric code from the authenticator app 
5.  Two-factor authentication is disabled

Lost 2FA device 

Lost or forgot the device where you have your Two Factor Authentication **Google Authenticator** or the **Authy-app** installed on?

Use one of the Recovery codes you received when enabling your 2FA
