# Core intervention: Psycho education

### What is psychoeducation?

Psycho-education is the provision of information about the treatment, the complaints, the diagnosis and the choice of techniques and interventions. In addition, advice is given on how a client - as well as their loved ones - can best deal with the symptoms. Psychoeducation motivates and activates a client and can normalize symptoms.

### When do you provide psychoeducation?

Psychoeducation is an integral part of the treatment and is given at the beginning, when starting new interventions, and when a client does not understand something.

### How do you provide psychoeducation?

-   You can offer psycho-education from the [library on NiceDay.app](https://niceday.app/en/libraries/) or other reliable sources, such as vgct, wij zijn mind, thuisarts or hulpgids.
-   You can explain psycho-education **verbally** during the session.
